The early night worked wonders as they were much easier to wake up this morning and we’re very glad we had such an early night last night as it’s been a rather late one after the fabulous gala dinner tonight!
The children were dressed and downstairs in record time this morning and they have got so quick at getting their boots on that we were at the gondola before it had even opened and on the slopes with time for a group photo or two before our instructors arrived.
Once again the weather has been glorious and we’ve had another amazing day skiing! I accompanied the intermediate group this morning and their progress over the past three days has been fantastic. They were taking on hard red runs like there was no tomorrow and seriously giving me a run for my money! I was very grateful to Toby for skiing in to the group every time we stopped (he has a real flair for this!😂) as this gave me time to catch them up!
Whilst the intermediates have been mastering the more tricky red runs, the beginners have just moved on to the red runs, finding some lovely wide runs where they can practise their turns. They’ve really begun to realise the importance of those stopping distances today and I believe there’s been some serious improvement, which is great news for our nerves! Although we’ve still decided they need some chevrons out on the mountains to make this easier for them!
The advanced group, on the other hand, have been enjoying the scenery as they’ve been hitting the ‘off piste’ tracks through the trees. Apparently some of them (Zara!) have a particular attachment to the trees and can’t stop hugging them! We’ve asked her to give them a wider birth tomorrow! Again they've had a fantastic day and Sergio has been so impressed with them all as they take more and more risks and master new skills.
After a quick trip to the local shop on the way home (we tried out “bonjourno” on the cashier today and I think she was pleased for some variety after 32 “ciao’s” the other day!) it was back to the hotel for a swim before supper. As you can imagine the jacuzzi was extremely popular (particularly with the teachers!) after 4 days of ski boots and tumbles!
Then it was time to beautify themselves ready for the gala dinner tonight and they did an amazing job of dressing for the occasion. There wasn’t a salopette in sight and we were particularly impressed with Adam’s bowtie! We enjoyed 5 delicious courses by candlelight and the children were impeccably behaved.
After a long and very busy day we decided to go straight to bed after dinner so we will reveal skier and wipeout of the day tomorrow, when we’ve told the children.
I’m really not sure these blogs are doing the trip justice but hopefully it gives you a flavour of the incredible time we are all having and how much time we spend laughing and giggling together - it is honestly non stop!
Goodnight from your delightfully dressed and highly entertaining little skiers, xxx
